On Saturday at Buck Creek, Lois led the YSHS girls to an 8th place finish by finishing 4th in a race that featured CC powerhouses West Liberty-Salem, Greenon, and Tecumseh. Lois established a new PR with a time of 20:12 on a course that features a steep uphill climb just before the finish line, overlooking a choppy lake on a windy day. Paloma gutted it out through illness, with Reini, Hannah, and Mary completing the team finish. Kelly had to drop out after 1 mile due to her calf injury. Bethany from Xenia Christian finished 5th, 2 seconds behind Lois. View results here.
On Sunday, Lois woke up bright and early and headed for Minster for the annual 10K Octoberfest run. She returned with the 1st place trophy for the girls 14 & under division, which turned out to be a wooden shoe (pictured below), quite appropriate because Lois’ great-grandmother is Dutch. Thanks to Birch Robinson-Hubbuch for pacing Lois! View results here. For my beer buddies out there, they also have a “beer tray relay” you might be interested in!
