Lois finished first in a small, 4-team meet at John Bryan State Park last Thursday. Given last-minute information that certain opponents had a complete, official team, she and Paloma had to change strategy mid-course from pacing their middle-school teammates to actually winning the race. Although they felt bad about abandoning their pacees, they easily made their way to the front of the pack before the finish line. On Saturday, Lois gutted it out on a tough course, just missing second place to upperclasser Maria from Southeastern. Bethany from Xenia Christian took advantage of home course familiarity, winning easily while setting a pace that left other runners weary. Congrats to Bethany on a great race!
