In the first cross-country meet of her high school career, Lois ran a 20:13 to take 6th place in the Bob Schul Invitational at West Milton, OH, to lead the Yellow Springs team to a 7th place finish. Teammate, co-freshman, and dynamic-duo-partner Paloma was close behind, finishing in 15th place. Sister Kelly battled through calf problems to finish the race, as Miller girls comprised 2 of the 5 YS runners at the meet. Lois’ time was certainly aided by running most of the race with fierce local rival and friend, Bethany from Xenia Christian, who finished 7th. Lois, Paloma, Bethany and other local rivals will be making each other better for four more years! Interestingly, D3 girls cross country times were superior than D1 and D2 times (presumably due to the no-soccer CC powerhouses such as Minster and Versailles), as Lo’s time would have put her in second place, just four seconds behind the winner, in the D2 race. Lois’ time also bested the CC-PR of former mentor and current collegiate runner Tina Peters. It seems like just yesterday that Lois was running alongside Tina racewalking.
