The Miller family attended the Sunday matinee peformance of Little Shop at the Aronoff Center in Cincinnati. The play was held within the smaller but beautiful Jason-Kaplan theater within the Aronoff Center, meaning every seat is pretty close to the stage. The movie based on the play is a huge family favorite, so the performance had a lot to live up to. Indeed, it did not live up to the movie completely, due in part to the fact that is was a pretty small production featuring only a handful of actors and a fairly small and static set. However, there was certainly enough payoff to make the trip worth it. Among the many good songs in the play, perhaps the most well-executed was “Somewhere That’s Green.” So, we left the theatre having enjoyed the play, and probably appreciating the film version even more.
