Las night Sheila and I went to see Colin Hay for free in Springfield, OH in a nice outdoor setting - Veteran’s park. Hay, former leader of Men at Work, played solo against a cliffy background, telling lots of stories between songs. Along with material from his new release, he played old favorites, including some re-worked Men at Work tunes that some would argue are better as acoustic solos than the original synthesizer-filled versions from the 80s. Great show, great time, and let’s hear it for the Springfield Arts Council for putting it together. The actual trigger for this post, however, was showing off my new iphone’s audio recording capabilities. I recorded a handful of songs, including Overkill (quicktime probably required to hear it).

Thanks for Sharing Rich. I really like the sound quality and live feel of your recording. As a youngster during the Men at Work pinncale in the early 80’s it was also fun to hear the unmistakable sounds of Colin Hay’s raspy, melodic voice. I wish we could get more free quality acts like this in the Dayton area.
