In a furious finish in the mile event in Saturday’s meet, Lois barely beat local rival (and friend) Bethany from Xenia Christian. Bethany had previously run a 5:39 and indeed Lois needed to run a 5:36 to win, which also broke Lois’ own mile record for middle school, and apparently bested the YS high school record for the mile. Lois also won the 800 and ran the first leg of a winning 4X400 relay race. The last meet of the season, the conference meet next Saturday, will feature another tight mile race, as Megan from Emmanuel Christian will join Lois and Bethany.
