I downloaded this book from the emusic audiobook service just before download-deadline time and selected it based merely on its intriguing title. The book is what it says it is: a prediction of what is going to happen in the world in the next 100 years. I was very skeptical of what Friedman was saying in the beginning of the book, and while I’m not sure which parts I actually agree with, it was interesting to hear the rationale for his predictions. Regardless of his world outlook, politics, etc. (which were not necessarily easy to infer), I give him a lot of credit for taking a shot at such an ambitious undertaking. The one thing that bugged me is that he did not even mention global warming until the epilogue. He finally explained why, but I thought it was a cop-out to just tack on an explanation at the end and not sure I buy it anyway. I recommend this book because it was almost always engaging, and I learned a lot about the history of the world in the process, though it remains to be seen how much I learned about its future.
