Lois Miller broke the Yellow Springs McKinney middle school record in the 800 meters on Saturday at Waynesville High School with a time of 2:32, finishing well ahead of the field. Her time would have placed her second in the boys 800 and first in the girls 800 at the high school meet that day. The record is about as old as Lois herself - the previous record holder, Anita Allen, is said to be approximately 28 years old and currently about to get married! Lois also ran the first leg of a school-record-breaking 4 X 400 race, with a personal-best time of 68 seconds for the 400.
