Saw in on DVD. Well, I guess I liked this movie. It was engaging enough and was interesting to see the Barcelona scenery after having been there a couple years ago and actually knowing who Gaudi is (architect). But I had a couple problems with the movie - it just didn’t seem that original and was somewhat predictable though it depicted very unconventional behavior by its characters. Halfway through I was starting to feel like I wanted it to wrap up. The thing that bugged me the most was that once again one of the characters (Vicky) talked exactly like so many other characters from Woody Allen movies. I mean Dianne Keaton was talking, gesturing the exact same way in his movies back in the 80s. This has gone on so long that while I am watching the movie I am picturing Woody Allen himself inside the character’s body. Real people just don’t talk like that unless they are trying to be like someone in a Woody Allen movie. It was interesting seeing Javier Bardem (the guy with the cannister that you really want to avoid in No Country for Old Men) in a completely different role.
